You go into public books rent, interest to some books, have a sit, and start reading… Nice activity, but minutes after, something seems missing: a drink — to some, it is a cup of coffee! Others prefer a cup of tea, a bottle of Teh Botol, or even Cola. Whatever your preference says.

To accomodate books and beverages or soft-drinks, some book rent services in Bandung include coffee corner or a small café in their building. A Comic Zone (well-known as comic rent) in Jalan Tubagus Ismail merged their shop with a brand new café and now guests have a set of seats and table, enjoying reading comics, drinks and snacks, and also discussing with colleagues. Other used books shop in Jalan Siliwangi had been for a long time having banner: reading and drinking.

While for guests this facility will make them comfortable, extra services will offer extra income to bookstores. The longer visitors staying, hopefully more drinks or foods are sold. I do not know precisely how many books read by guests in average, but it is reasonable enough that more books will be read with this new approach. It also reminds me that Learning Perl was finished by its author in a café.
