Books for kindergarten written in Bahasa Indonesia is difficult to find. If it is available, its price is relatively expensive. One main reason is very few publishers choose this kind of book. This situation is reported on today Republika’s Kalam Jawa Barat (in Bahasa Indonesia).

Ira Amri, a kindergarten teacher and one of managers of kindergarten library Gagas Ceria, told that many kindergarten teachers use English textbooks because they find difficulties getting Indonesian ones. Ira also suggested government to publish more books in Bahasa Indonesia for kindergarten.

Other issue with currently available Indonesian books for childage are they are fulfilled with too many texts that make difficult for parents or teachers to use them for teaching. I ever heard some rummors that publishers even pay books’ royalty based on sentence counts — which is very unacceptable for kids’ books.
